파이돈(Phaidon)에서 출간된 ‘Great Women Sculptors‘는 500년에 걸친 300여 명 여성 조각가들의 작품을 한 권에 담았다. 이 책은 알파벳 순으로 구성되어, 과거와 현재를 넘나드는 거장의 작품을 나란히 배치한다.
야요이 쿠사마의 화려한 물방울 무늬에서부터 포르티아 먼슨의 여성주의적 오브제, 마리아 바투소바의 유려한 석고 조각까지, 이 책은 다채로운 형식과 감각을 통해 독자를 매료시킨다. 특히, 루이스 네벨슨의 거대한 조형물과 바바라 헵워스의 친밀한 석조 조각 등은 각각 예술가의 경력을 대표하는 작품으로 소개된다. 그 외에도 왕게치 무투, 시몬 리, 타라 도노반 같은 이름들도 이 책에서 만나볼 수 있다.
